Kg oil & gas takes pride in employing a diversified staff. The Kg oil & gas Code of Conduct safeguards all employees and contractors from unlawful discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, age, gender, handicap, sexual orientation, or political opinion. While we are heartened by our diversity on the Board of Directors and among department heads, we recognize that diversity in the oil and gas business is still an issue, particularly in terms of gender diversity. We try to be a desirable place to work, with a welcoming atmosphere that values diversity.
Kg oil & gas is committed to enhancing gender balance at all levels of the company, and we’re working with interest groups to figure out how. Additionally, Kg oil & gas has had a business Equality and Diversity Policy in place for some years to support these goals. By the year 2023, women will make up 23% of the Kg oil & gas workforce in Kazakhstan.
The Board recognizes the importance of continuing to improve in this area and is committed to considering the benefits of diversity in future appointments, including ensuring that Kazakhstan nationals are properly represented at high levels of the Company. At the department head level, women make up 24 percent of the workforce. Our Human Resources department is aiming to implement a policy of internal promotion and to develop a pipeline of diverse personnel at all levels of the organization. We are glad to share that females made up 7% of the Kg oil & gas 2022 recruitment.
Education and training
We think that investing in our people is critical to achieving economic self-sufficiency in the communities where we operate. We are expected to accrue 1% of the field development cost relevant per year under the terms of the agreement. HSE training (including fire safety) is included in the budget at least once a year. There was no additional training beyond what was required by the PSA. Employees who stopped working as a result of retirement or termination of employment received no help.
Educational grants and financial aid are available to our employees and their children to help with university and college expenditures. On a case-by-case basis, educational fellowships and help may be provided. Kg oil & gas will support 537 employees through education and training programs in 2022. (2023: 722 employees). In 2020, our overall Group training costs were US$0.9 million (2019: US$2.1 million), with a total number of training days of 7214 days (2019: 7,264 days).
Human Rights Policy
The Company had a Human Rights Policy in place throughout 2022, reflecting a determination to follow industry best practices. In the year 2022, there was no training on this policy (2023: nil). The Kg oil & gas Code of Activity (“the Code”), which defines the principles that guide business behaviour and provides a non-exhaustive sketch of what Kg oil & gas considers lawful conduct by its workers, is in addition to the Human Rights Policy. Provisions relating to human rights and diversity in the workplace, as well as inside dealing and inside knowledge, are among these principles.
Whistleblowing Policy
We have a Whistleblowing Policy that applies to all individuals working for the Kg oil & gas at all levels and grades and takes into account the Kazakhstan Standards Institute’s Whistleblowing Arrangements Code of Practice and Public Concern at Work. The Whistleblowing Policy lists three compliance liaison officers who speak a range of languages and can be contacted with any issues. The Whistleblowing Policy is also referenced in the Code, and anyone who reports something in good faith will be shielded from any consequences.
